Our aim is to run our hotel in an environmentally friendly way. This is part of our perception of quality. We sort the trash and try to avoid using plastic and over packaged products. You will find a lot of Norwegian and local products on our menus, and only wines from Europe on our wine list. We also invested in our private power plant:
A summer farm always had a very close relationship with nature. Farming meant using the nature and living of the land. A hotel uses a lot more resources than the nature at 900 masl can provide. In the 1950s a small hydropower plant was built in relation to Stuttgongen Waterfall to cover the rising energy consumption. It was shut down in the beginning of the 80s.
In 2005 Hindsæter teamed up with the sawmill in Randsverk, and together we built a new power plant. Since May 2007 Stuttgongfossen Power Plant has produced up to 1100 kw per hour, which is 13% of the consumption Vågå county needs. A minimum water level in Sjoa river is always guaranteed, so there is no damage to the protected river.
